A Couple of Prayer Requests
1) After church Sunday I talked to Dr. Dave who is still at Roca Blanca. He told
me that the one believing family in the little village of San Lucas, Ixtayutla
is being expelled from their home/village. Last year 11 people came to the El
Mosco clinic one morning for medicine, and 9 prayed with the pastor's wife. I understand
that at that time we had one young woman, Teresa I believe, who was attending
the Bible School at Roca Blanca. Apparently the president of Ixtayutla has been
called upon to enforce this, and that the intent is to forcibly remove them and
then burn down their house. That is all I know.
I am praying for their faith, that they would have a great revelation of Jesus.
We are experiencing more and more opposition in this region where we have had a strong presence since about 2003. There is a government plan to build a hydroelectric project, involving a dam which the people in the region oppose. In their anger they are targeting the "hermanos" i.e. evangelical believers as a group that is supporting the dam. My only thought is that they should think this because the Christian community does have contact and support from the "outside" (like us). Many rumors run wild.
The pastor in El Mosco has restricted the places we go for clinic outreach because of this perceived threat to his church's and our safety.
2) Mary TenBrink (my son-laws' mom) was taken to Harborview. Apparently the leg was to badly swollen to perform surgery. In that she was taken to Harborview makes me think that the risk for her safety and the trauma of the injury is signifigant.
